Coursera – Stay Ahead In Your Career
I believe that we should never stop learning about topics or skills that interest us. Learning new skills and gaining knowledge is a great thing and, in my opinion, Coursera.com is one of the greatest places to do this. Coursera is a place that allows you to “Take The World’s Best Courses, Online”. All kind of courses varying from Public Speaking to Data Science and Classical Music make Coursera a great example of life improvement taken online!
Coursera has hundreds of specializations and courses for many fields or industries. These courses can often be referred to as MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses). All courses are created, maintained and provided by professionals or trustworthy and respected institutes, like Stanford and Yale University.
Most courses are interactive with the teachers and your fellow students. Of course, they won’t be as interactive as a ‘physical’ course will be. But with most courses making use of ‘Peer assessments’, where the students look over each other’s work and have to provide feedback, there is definitely an interactive aspect to it.
One of the greatest things about Coursera? Most of the courses are absolutely free! And the courses that aren’t free, are definitely cheaper than most courses outside Coursera. This is in line with Coursera’s main mission: to provide universal access to the world’s best education.
Personal improvement isn’t the only thing you get out of these courses. Most courses even offer certificates to put on your resume or show anywhere else! The downside? Most courses that offer certificates make you pay for them. It is completely up to you if you want to pay for a certificate or take the courses just for personal gain!
My Coursera Experiences
I wouldn’t recommend Coursera if I didn’t use it myself. I’ve taken multiple Coursera Courses, on topics related to programming, negotiations and am currently working through the public speaking course. The great thing about these courses is that they are packed with information, instead of hours of material with little meaning to them.
Another great aspect of Coursera is that you can go through the courses at your own pace, whenever it suits you. While most courses have time limits in the form of week schedules, you are free to choose whenever to do the work. This takes away most of the pressure and even makes it a fun experience!
Coursera is definitely the way to go if you’re looking to get ahead in your career or life. Hundreds of courses that you can complete for free or get at affordable prices, make Coursera a no-brainer in my opinion! I truly hope you take a look at all the courses and start improving your life right away!
